Come and join the Whanau Hui Group

Kia ora koutou.  Happy New Year and a warm welcome back to school.  Netherby School has worked very hard in forming and maintaining a Whanau Hui group for the purposes of consulting with our Māori Community in an authentic way. The Whanau Hui group is made up of parents who identify as Māori or have children who identify as Māori. We ask for this group to support, set direction and provide valued cultural input into our school on a frequent basis. All Whanau are welcomed and encouraged to become part of this group. Our next meeting is set for Monday 5th February at 3.15 in the school library. We look forward to seeing you. Tahi tatou mahi atu (together we achieve more).

Tip For Parents

Give your child every opportunity to read to you daily. Ten minutes of reading five times a week = 50 minutes of reading time a week.

If you did this for a minimum of 35 weeks a year we have your child engaging in text for 29 hours extra every year! That 29 hours helps your child read better because they do more miles, are exposed to many words, and importantly are exposed to many ideas through the text.

It is a win - win for all concerned!
