The End of Year and Yr.6 Leavers Assembly is on Wednesday 12th of December starting at 1.30 in the school hall. This is the last day for children and also the day in which the children will get their school report and details of the class they will be in for 2019. There will also be our magnetic calendar for 2019 in the envelope. We encourage as many parents to come to this assembly and especially encourage the parents and caregiver of the Yr.6 children who will at some stage be in the limelight as they receive their leaving certificate. See you here.

REMINDER: School Closure - Teacher Strike Wednesday 14 November 2018

REMINDER: School Closure - Teacher Strike Wednesday 14 November 2018

Dear Parents and Caregivers

The Board of Trustees cannot provide teaching for students during the upcoming strike. The NZEI has advised the Ashburton Netherby Board of Trustees that the principal and teachers at our school will be taking strike action from 7:00am to 7:00pm on Wednesday 14 November 2018.

The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff, and unfortunately decided that we can’t provide the normal teaching services during the strike. The school will need to close during this strike.

It is important that you make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children on the day of the strike, as the school will be CLOSED.

I know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike, but please be assured that student safety is our main concern in making this decision.

Thank you for your understanding. Please contact me if you have any queries relating to this decision.

Yours sincerely,

Board Chair

Home and School Athletics Day Support

Good morning. As you may know, we have the Home and School group cooking sausages on the athletics day here on Week 2 of Term 4 Tuesday the 23rd of October between 10 – 1 pm. If we do not get parent help here we are in trouble. We are asking for about 5 parents to help and commit to this day and liaise with Sarah Bartlett. Her contact details are 021 995 375. The Home and School Fundraising is hugely important to the school and needs your support. Kind regards and thanking you in advance.

Tip For Parents

Give your child every opportunity to read to you daily. Ten minutes of reading five times a week = 50 minutes of reading time a week.

If you did this for a minimum of 35 weeks a year we have your child engaging in text for 29 hours extra every year! That 29 hours helps your child read better because they do more miles, are exposed to many words, and importantly are exposed to many ideas through the text.

It is a win - win for all concerned!
